Standard Pastry


good for apple pie

1/2 cup shortening (or 1/4 cup shortening and 1/4 cup butter)
1 1/2 cup sifted flour
3/4 teaspoon salt
3-4 tablespoons ice water


Blend four, salt and shortening with pastry blender to coarse meal stage. Sprinkle with water tossing lightly with fork. Using deft motion, pat together 3-4 times on floured board. Roll and fit gently into pie plate. Crimp edges. To bake, pierce sides and bottom with fork, bake at 450 for 10-12 minutes.
